Toyota Financial Services, the automaker’s subsidiary that offers financing, leasing, insurance, extended warranties and other tools for car buyers, announced executive changes effective March 24.
Anna Sampang was named as the subsidiary’s vice president and chief customer officer, per the release. In the newly created role, she is responsible for leading Toyota Financial Services’ customer experience strategy, while also overseeing service operations, employee training and development.
Sampang most recently served as Toyota Financial Services’ group VP and chief information officer. As CIO, she directed the captive lender’s data and technology teams, implemented technological and analytical solutions for customers and dealers, and streamlined company operations across business, technology and data, per her executive bio.
Sampang joined Toyota Motor Sales in 1993 and moved to Toyota Financial Services in 2000. She held various leadership roles over the years across service operations, technology and human resources for Toyota’s financial service units.
The newly-created position may improve customer experiences at a moment when consumers rank automotive lenders’ digital services relatively low. According to a 2021 report by Deloitte, captive auto lenders like Toyota Financial Services have been prompted by increasing cost and competition to “strategize how they can strengthen their digital capabilities to engage customers at the time and place of need, provide personalized experiences and products and build longer-term relationships.”
Madhusudhan Reddy joins Toyota Financial Services as group vice president and chief information officer, taking over Sampang’s former role. He has a long tenure of senior leadership roles in technology, and most recently served as general manager of worldwide self-service and automation at Amazon. The Toyota Financial Services data and technology teams will report directly to Reddy, per the press release.
