Stellantis will no longer have a display or host a presentation at the CES 2024 technology show in Las Vegas in January, the automaker said Wednesday.
The automaker said the move aims to reduce the company’s expenses as it deals with the financial effects of the ongoing United Auto Workers strike against its Toledo Assembly Complex in Ohio, which assembles the Jeep Gladiator, Wrangler and hybrid Wrangler 4xe, and 20 parts distribution centers and quality engineering centers.
“As the costs of the ongoing UAW strikes against Stellantis continue to mount, the Company has decided to cancel its planned display and presentations at CES 2024,” Stellantis said in a statement.
Approximately 7,800 UAW members are striking Stellantis, leading the automaker to furlough more than 1,400 employees at four facilities in Indiana, Michigan and Ohio since the strike began. Anderson Economic Group, a consulting firm in East Lansing, Michigan, said Monday the strike has cost the Detroit Three automakers — General Motors, Ford Motor Co. and Stellantis — an estimated $3.45 billion as of Oct. 12. The UAW strike has cost the automotive industry $7.7 billion in total, AEG said.
