- Stellantis’ Peugeot brand will add ChatGPT voice assistance technology to all its vehicles starting this week, the company announced Tuesday.
- The technology will be integrated into the brand’s “OK Peugeot” voice assistant, driver controls and infotainment system.

A growing number of automakers, including Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen, are adding ChatGPT-based voice assistants to their vehicles to improve road safety and customer convenience.
“It's a new feature that allows you to command the car while keeping your hands on the steering wheel and also keeping your eyes on the road,” said Jérôme Micheron, product director at Peugeot, during a livestream event. “It’s going to help us answer an amazing variety of questions and topics.”
Once a driver activates the “OK Peugeot'' voice assistant, it can respond to various requests by answering specific questions, suggesting landmarks and offering route guidance. It can also interact with passengers on a variety of topics using conversational AI.
Mercedes-Benz was the first automaker to offer a version of ChatGPT to U.S. customers in June as part of a 3-month beta test. The automaker is using the findings to improve the technology before rolling it out to other markets.
In addition, Volkswagen demonstrated its new ChatGPT-powered voice assistant on the new ID.7 electric sedan at the CES technology conference in Las Vegas last month. It will become standard on many Volkswagen models beginning in the second quarter of 2024.
