Rivian Chief Communications Officer Sarah O’Brien has resigned after just over one year in the position, the electric vehicle maker confirmed Friday.
A former Meta executive, O’Brien joined Rivian in June 2023, where she oversaw the company’s product, consumer, internal and corporate communications. She previously served as the VP of communications at Tesla, where she supported the launch of Model 3, Solar Roof and Tesla’s Semi Truck, according to a June 2023 press release.
O’Brien has been succeeded by Marina Hoffmann, VP of global communications, who previously led the company’s corporate communications team. In an email, a Rivian spokesperson said there was a “thoughtful and collaborative hand off” between the two leaders.
Hoffmann has been at Rivian for nearly two years. Prior to that, she spent 14 years at American Express, where she was VP of corporate, financial and risk public relations.
Rivian also had other executive leadership departures this summer. In July, Jeffery Baker resigned from his role as chief accounting officer, and Kjell Gruner stepped down as chief commercial officer after less than a year in the position.
But there has been new appointments, including COO Javier Varela and Jennifer Prenner, VP of marketing.
