Mercedes-Benz USA appointed Greg Gates as VP of network development effective Sept. 2, the company announced Aug. 18.

He is returning to the automaker after departing in June 2018 to serve as VP of business transformation at Swickard Auto Group, per his LinkedIn profile.
Adam Chamberlain, president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA, in a statement said Gates’ automotive experience will further enhance the automaker’s dealer partner network and overall customer experience.
“Our extensive retail network is a crucial component and catalyst to our success,” Chamberlain said.
Gates’ first role with Mercedes-Benz was in 1999 at Mercedes-Benz Financial Services. He held numerous leadership roles with the automaker until his departure in 2018. While at Mercedes-Benz, Gates helped direct the company’s dealer network to achieve multiple years of luxury market sales leadership, according to the release.
Since November 2023, Gates has worked for human resources consultancy RockED, where he has served as COO since November 2024.
Gates succeeds Frank Diertl, who retired from Mercedes-Benz on July 4, 2025. Gates will be based at Mercedes-Benz North American headquarters in Atlanta.
