Ionna, an electric vehicle charging joint venture, appointed Seth Cutler as CEO, effective Feb. 1, according to a company press release earlier this month.
Cutler will oversee the installation of at least 30,000 high-powered EV chargers across North America. The first U.S. stations will open this year before Ionna expands to Canada.
He formerly served as president and COO of EV charging company EV Connect and as chief engineer of Electrify America, Volkswagen’s EV charging business.
“I am honored to lead Ionna and work alongside these esteemed automakers in shaping the future of electric mobility,” Cutler said in a statement. “Our shared commitment to creating an extensive, high-powered charging network reflects our dedication to revolutionizing the EV charging experience and helping to drive widespread EV adoption.”
Ionna is a new EV charging joint venture between seven major automakers: BMW, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz and Stellantis. The company received regulatory approval to begin operations on Feb. 9 and plans to build a large-scale EV charging network in North America to support the automakers’ customers.
Earlier in his career, Cutler served as chief engineer at Electrify America, leading the company’s efforts to develop and deploy its nationwide charging network, including the development of EV charging software. He also spent a decade at General Electric in various roles, including general manager of charging infrastructure, where he worked on developing, manufacturing and installing EV charging stations.
